Windsor Castle Consultation on Character

On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th November, Learning for Life staged another dissemination consultation on Character, based around Prof. James Arthur’s text ‘Of Good Character’, at St. George’s House, Windsor Castle.

With 30 delegates present, representing a varied and diverse array of professions, sessions were held  on ‘Character and Young People’, with reflections from Francesca Barwood, Scott Pepe, Sally Bowell and Phélim Brady, students at Godalming College; ‘Character, Employment and Higher Education’, with reflections from Sue Gogarty of B.T. and Gary Powell of Rothschild; ‘Character and Religion’, with reflections from Farid Panjwani, Aga Khan University, and Fr. Simon Gaine OP; ‘Character Schools and Teachers’, with reflections from Matt Bawden of QEGS Ashbourne and Paul Warwick of Leicester University; and ‘Character, Communities and the Voluntary Sector’, with reflections from Jo Hobbs, Girl Guiding UK and Simon Carter of the Scouts Association.

Discussion during the sessions was vibrant and a range of topics were debated, within the realms of Character and Character Education.
